Is it different from other quit apps? Mostly, no.

Thin Air counts puffs or cigarettes. You tap once for each one, and your daily limit drops a little every morning until it reaches zero. Plenty of apps count. Here is what we do differently.

Counting is free, forever. The plan is free for 7 days, then $19.99 once. No subscription, nothing renews. Android is coming.

Logging
From your Lock Screen or a Home Screen widget. One tap, the app stays closed.
Your data
Not collected. No account, no email, no analytics. We can't profit from your data because we never have it.7 of the 13 quit apps we checked declare data used to track you. None carry Apple's "Data Not Collected" label.
Price
Counting stays free forever. No trial that locks you out. The plan is one payment of $19.99, with no tiers. The typical weekly plan we found costs $6.49 a week, so $19.99 is about three weeks of that.
A bad day
Go over your limit and nothing resets. Need a slower day? Hold today's limit and your zero day moves back by one.
On your screen
It looks like the weather. Every puff or cigarette is a "cloud", so your morning note says "142 clouds", not what they are.

A forecast that clears a little every day.

Tell it roughly how many puffs or cigarettes a day you take now and pick a pace: 4, 6 or 8 weeks. Every morning the limit drops by about the same small step, so no single day is a cliff.

  1. Week 1120140
  2. Week 297117
  3. Week 37393
  4. Week 45070
  5. Week 52747
  6. Week 6323
  7. Day 4300

Example: 140 puffs a day on the 6-week pace. Daily limits, highest and lowest in each week.

Cold turkey isn't the only way.

In 22 trials with 9,219 people who smoked, cutting down first worked about as well as stopping on the spot. Neither came out ahead (Cochrane review, 2019). The NHS says cutting down on vaping gradually "can make quitting easier".

So pick the way you will actually stick with. If that's a slope, this is what it's for.

We don't run ads.

Thin Air only reaches people when someone tells someone. If it helps you, rate it honestly in the App Store, or send the free taper planner to a friend who is trying to quit. Nobody has to know why you're sending it.
